TECHNOLOGY AND CHARACTER EDUCATION IN EFL CLASSROOM

Abstract


The fact that by providing technology can make the students be active and creative so that the teacher should know how to provide the technology well in the teaching and learning process. Using technology effectively in everyday learning can help students to strengthen their learning experiences, build on their intuitive technology skills, and participate actively in the teaching and learning process. Actually, the main focus of the use of technology is only for being active and creative but also for character education. It seems that the character education becomes the important one. There are eighteen characteristics in national character education: religious, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independence, democracy, curiosity, nationalism, patriotism, achievement appreciation, and friendship, love of peace, fondness of reading, environment awareness, social care, and responsibility. In order to make character education, the government does the effort to be implemented in school. This paper aims to explain some activities in supporting character education and provide how to apply them in EFL classroom by providing the use of technology.
