AN ANALYSIS OF INSTRUCTIONS IN THE ENGLISH TEXTBOOK WHEN ENGLISH RINGS A BELL FOR GRADE VII STUDENTS AN INTERPERSONAL ANALYSIS

Abstract


Indonesian government has been developing the implementation of Curriculum 2013 which highlights the students‘ centered learning. This idea is reflected on the written instructions in the students‘ textbooks. This study aimed to map the moods that characterize the instructions in the seventh grade student English textbook "Bahasa Inggris:When English Rings a Bell‖ and to find out how far the instructions meet the student centered learning as stated in the K-2013. The data of this study were clauses of written instructions and they were analyzed from the perspective of the Interpersonal metafunction analysis. The primary instruments in this study were the researchers and the secondary instrument was data sheets. Triangulation technique was used to get dependability of the data through peer reviews and expert judgments. The results of the study gave description regarding the appropriateness of the current instructions used in the textbook and its significance to the K-2013 implementation.
