Sarlita Dewi Matra

Abstract

Assessment can be one goal of using an Electronic Portfolio (E-portfolio), but using the E-portfolio as a learning strategy is also very important. E-Portfolio is one of an innovative way in building both teacher‘s competence and teacher‘s character during the teaching learning process. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of E-Portfolio as ‗SMART‘ learning strategy to promote students‘ self-assessment and to explain the impact of E-portfolio to involve students more with their own learning processes where the students can evaluate their own learning processes and their end pro-ducts as comprehensive learning reflections. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Ambitious, Realistic, and in Time defined. E-Portfolio promotes these characters effectively. The pasticipants are the 20 English student teachers in micro teaching class. The result of the study shows that the English student teachers can carry their E-portfolio throughout their learning journey and use it to record, assess, evaluate, and reflect at any time. Students can increase their ability to learn by taking ownership of and developing strategies for self-assessment, and also monitoring their own development. Furthermore, the lecturer needs to explore not only how ICT can supplement traditional ways of teaching, but also how it can open up new and different ways of learning. The E-portfolio fits splendidly with all these objectives.
