THE EFFECTIVENESS OF QUIPPER AS AN ONLINE PLATFORM FOR TEACHING WRITING RECOUNT TEXT AT EIGHTH GRADE OF SMP NEGERI 21 KOTA SERANG

Abstract


The objectives of this study were to describe the process and to find out the result of the effectiveness of Quipper as an Online Platform for Teaching Writing Recount Text. The method used in this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which the researchers observed and gave treatment to teach writing recount text. The researchers conducted two cycles in this research which consisted of two meetings of each cycles. The researchers used observation sheet and documentation to collect qualitative data. Furthermore, the researchers used test which consisted of pre-test and post-test for collecting quantitative data. Pre-test used to know the students‘ prior knowledge about recount text before the implementation of cycle. Meanwhile, post-test used to know the students‘ achievement about recount text after the implementation of cycle. In addition, the result of the research showed that the mean score of pre-test was 56, 40 which do not achieve standard minimum score, it was 75. The mean score of the first post-test was 72, 10. The improvement between pre-test and the first post-test was 47, 7%. Then, the mean score of the second post-test was 77, 20 which had improved 31, 2% from the first post-test. Based on the finding of this research, it can be concluded that Quipper as online platform is effective for teaching writing recount text at eight grade of SMP Negeri 21 Kota Serang.
