THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTENSIVE-SEMI INTENSIVE ENGLISH COURSE PROGRAM IN TEACHING READING SKILL OF STUDENTS OF MA AL HIKMAH 2 BREBES

Abstract


This study aimed at reporting the implementation of the English Intensive-Semi Intensive course program and examines its effectiveness in improving the English proficiency of the students of MA AlHikmah 2. Internalized the course (method/materials) by comparing the difference group of courses, the IC program was likely to have a positive effect on the students‘ English proficiency. The study was descriptive qualitative which the writer only collects, classifies, and analyses the data then draws conclusion without making a generalization to solve the problem of the research. Participants were XII grader students of MA Al Hikmah 2 in Brebes Regency. Data collection by comparing the score result of pretest and posttest, try out scores, TOEFL scores which indicated significant differences. Findings show the students of IC program were getting significant scores result than semi-intensive program. Additional data concerning students‘ responses on the Intensive course program showed that various aspects of the program were implemented well.
