EVALUATION TO ENGLISH STUDY PROGRAM CURRICULUM OF STKIP PGRI PACITAN

Abstract


This article is a library research which evaluates the English study program curriculum of STKIP PGRI Pacitan. When this research was being conducted, English study program of STKIP PGRI Pacitan was constructing the new curriculum based on KKNI. All English lectures including me were ordered to evaluate the curriculum individually, and then results were going to be discussed together. I have 2 purposes for this research based on evaluation which are; the first purpose of this article is to evaluate the strength and weakness of English study program curriculum of STKIP PGRI Pacitan, and the second purpose is to give reconstruction and recommendation to the curriculum of English study program of STKIP PGRI Pacitan as the material to build English study program curriculum based on KKNI. I used single object as the analysis material which is file book accreditation (Borang Akreditasi) of English study program of STKIP PGRI Pacitan in 2014. It is official document, and it gave ―B‖ score. I evaluated standard 5 which consist of curriculum philosophy, main outcomes, additional outcome, and curriculum construction. Curriculum philosophy evaluation gives results that the recent curriculum philosophy tends just to emphasize pedagogical competence. It lacks the emphasis for moral value, additional knowledge and skills, and society‘s demands. Main outcomes evaluation gives result that the tendency of main outcomes is just basic linguistic skills and teaching skills. It lacks character building. It has no social competence, and some of them are overlap to one another. Additional outcomes evaluation gives results that the additional outcomes consist of IT, entrepreneurship, character building, and other additional competence. It seems has no serious management for additional outcomes. I recommend that additional outcomes should just consist of one or two items which are managed seriously. Curriculum structure evaluation gives results that some subjects need to be deleted because it is out of English education study. Some subjects need to be developed to be more than one subject because it is very essential. Some subjects also need to be clearer for the program, materials, and references. I expect that the result of this evaluation could give positive contribution for the constructing of KKNI curriculum at English study program of STKIP PGRI Pacitan.
